The Cast-off Kids Published
‘The Cast-off Kids’ by Trisha Merry was published by Simon & Schuster on 2nd June 2016, with strong pre-publication sales. This is the second of a two-book deal from this author, both with Jacquie Buttriss as ghostwriter.
‘The Cast-off Kids’, set in the 1960s and 70s, focuses on two ‘cast-off’ infants, abandoned first by their mother, then passed round the family, to be abandoned again by their grandmother and finally their father.
Two-year-old Daisy and one-year-old Paul are in desperate need of someone to love them. They’ve come to the right place when they arrive at Trisha and Mike’s front door, to a house full of love and laughter.
Trisha and Mike now have ten children under 5, most of them damaged and let down by parents, and often by social-services too. Daisy and Paul thrive and flourish in their loving care for ten years … until an eager and idealistic new social worker believes that mother is always best. He engineers their return to their birth mother, who sets fire to their past, then re-abandons and separates them within days to a succession of children’s homes.
Several years later, Paul embarks on a search to find the only two people who ever loved him …
